Customer Reviews about State Farm: Bob Dunn:

  • I've had my home and automobile insurance through Bob Dunn for about 8 years. He's done a great job managing my different policies. I've never experience any issues and I know my policies are in good hands. The reason I've been with him for many years is that he's accessible. Anytime I need him for anything, whether it be a question answered or advice he's or someone in his office are available.

  • I started with Bob Dunn when I moved to Yucca Valley a few years ago. The rates are good but with Bob Dunn and his office, everyone is smiling and willing. They're knowledgeable, professional, and friendly.

Two weeks ago, I received a letter from DMV asking for proof of insurance or a Non-Use Affidavit for my 2003 Fleetwood Bounder class A motorhome. My current insurance company at that time removed liability from the RV when I asked for it to be stored. Therefore, DMV saw no insurance and sent a Vehicle Registration Suspension notice for not having insurance due by the 26th of January 2016. I didn't know that my insurance removed my liability for over 12 months. I tried to contact them to reinstate my RV but had no luck in contacting them. So I fired them by calling several times until I got someone on the phone. After that, I began my search for a new company. Since State Farm had insurance on my boat I thought I could get RV insurance through them as well. Boy was I right but not the policy I expected! They were very friendly assuring me that my policy will be provided after payment. So I pulled out the card and charged $285 for the quoted $9XX annual policy. I informed the agent that I need a policy and NAIC numbers by the 25th of January 2016. The agent stated no problem you'll have them after payment processes. Low and behold, after paying she stated it will take a few days for the policy to be approved by the underwriters before issuing a policy number. So, I said okay and finished my conversation with her. After a few days I called back asking about my policy number and NAIC but this time was told it would take up to 30 days before getting them. I immediately became irate about being lied to by the first agent. After discussing my situation for about an hour I decided to hang up and wait it out. Finally on the 25th of January I received an email, which wasn't read until today the 26th of January. In the email I received the policy number but was informed my premium was higher than what was quoted; luckily I filed a non-use affidavit. So I called and was informed that since I only had a boat and RV on my policy and no other vehicles the underwriters converted my RV as a primary vehicle charging me $1k for every 6 months instead of $1k annually. I asked how is that possible and was told they could convert it back if I would transfer a primary vehicle to them. USAA has my vehicles, house, and everything under the sun except for RV and Boat insurance: USAA refers RV and Boats to Progressive which I hate with a passion! By this time I had enough. So I requested them to cancel my policy and was informed that I would only be charged for the two weeks I had insurance and that they will refund the rest to me when underwriting has approved it. How can they charge me for a policy that had no number? How can they charge me when I couldn't even verify that they were my insurance company via DMV online services? Keep in mind, when you receive a Vehicle Registration Suspension Notice, it can not be done locally in the office it must be done via the online services using the policy number and NAIC only! No other way around it. Luckily you can file a Non-Use Affidavit via DMV online services which is stating to DMV that you have removed Insurance on such vehicle by your request; for instance storing your RV with a company that removes liability while stored! State Farm also removes your liability when stored! So here I am having to search for another company and came across: Foremost Insurance Group via USAA's recommended company when members have issues with Progressive! What a breeze it was! I got a policy as well as the NAIC and an annual policy just under $800 for the whole year! Too, include my boat policy for $100 less than what State Farm provided for the whole year! So now Foremost has both my RV and boat and I feel very safe with them for now! So, to all RVer's out there be forewarned about State Farm, National General (Good Sam's Club 3rd party Insurance company), and all others that remove liability from policy when RV is stored. Foremost provides liability stored or not!
